Rottweiler rescued after dramatic fall down baltimore county embankment
A Rottweiler, now affectionately nicknamed Trooper, survived a harrowing ordeal after being struck by a vehicle and tumbling roughly 100 feet down a steep, muddy slope near the I-695/I-795 overpass in Baltimore County on March 12th. The incident underscores the unpredictable dangers lurking even in familiar landscapes.

Trooper's rescue: a race against the elements
Baltimore County Animal Services responded to the scene during a challenging day of rain and snow. Three dedicated members navigated through thick brush and debris to reach the 90-pound dog, who sustained no fractures but required immediate veterinary attention. The rescue involved a careful and arduous climb back up the embankment, highlighting the commitment of the rescue team.
“He’s safe, healing, and now in need of a foster or rescue placement,” a spokesperson stated, adding that Trooper is “also a sweetheart.” The dog is currently recovering on pain medication and is expected to make a full recovery.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of Animals in traffic-heavy areas and the bravery of those who respond to these emergencies. The county is appealing for a temporary home for Trooper while he recovers, a testament to the community’s compassion.
The speed of the response undoubtedly mitigated a far worse outcome. Trooper's survival is a testament to both his resilience and the swift action of the Animal Services team.
