Over the past eight months, an additional nine stores have transitioned to renewable sources, integrating sustainable practices across Auchan and ATAC’s hypermarkets and headquarters in Bucharest. This isn’t a mere PR stunt; it’s a calculated move towards a 100% renewable energy footprint by 2030 – a target they’re demonstrably approaching.

The initiative, spearheaded by Auchan Renewable Energy (ARE), is a layered approach. Early 2023 saw the launch of ARE, managing procurement and supply, but Auchan is also investing directly, installing solar panel systems at 16 hypermarkets and leveraging photovoltaic technology within their logistics network.
