Croatia offers €25,000 aid for emigrants' qualification translations

Croatia's Ministry of Demography and Immigration has launched a program to help Croatian emigrants and their families cover the cost of translating foreign higher education qualifications into Croatian. The initiative, worth €25,000, aims to reduce administrative barriers for those returning to the country.

Eligibility and funding criteria

The scheme is open to Croatian emigrants, descendants of Croatian emigrants, and family members of Croatian emigrants who hold or can obtain Croatian citizenship or permanent residence in the country.

Applicants must have completed higher education abroad and can use the funding for translating university diplomas, certificates, full curricula, or course programs from foreign institutions, regardless of the recognition procedure or profession.

Translation requirements and process

Translations must be certified by a court interpreter for the language in which the qualification was issued, or completed abroad with an official link to the original document and certified accuracy.

Applications must be submitted electronically to the Ministry by November 30, 2026, or until the funds are allocated. Results will be published on the Ministry's website.
