Croatia offers €25,000 to emigrants for qualification translations

Croatia's Ministry of Demography and Immigration has launched a public call worth €25,000 to assist Croatian emigrants and their families in covering the cost of translating foreign higher education qualifications into Croatian.

Eligible applicants must have completed higher education abroad

The scheme aims to support members of the Croatian diaspora returning to the country by reducing administrative barriers related to the recognition of overseas qualifications. Funding is available to Croatian emigrants, their descendants, and family members who hold or are eligible for Croatian citizenship or temporary/permanent residence in the country for immigration purposes.

Eligible applicants must have completed higher education abroad, and the Ministry will cover the cost of translating documentation proving foreign higher education qualifications into Croatian. This includes university diplomas, certificates of higher education, full curricula or course programmes from foreign higher education institutions, where required.

Translations must be carried out by a certified court interpreter for the language in which the qualification was issued. Alternatively, translations can be completed abroad, provided the interpreter officially links the original document with the Croatian translation and certifies its accuracy.

Applications must be submitted exclusively in electronic form by email to the Ministry. The call will remain open until November 30, 2026, or until the available funds are fully allocated. Results will be published on the Ministry's official website.
