Fastned expands european charging network with key leadership changes
European electric vehicle charging infrastructure is rapidly consolidating, and Fastned is aggressively pursuing market share across France, Switzerland, and Denmark. The company’s strategic shifts, coupled with key personnel appointments, signal a renewed focus on sustained growth beyond initial entry points.
France sees courgeon transition, wodehouse takes the helm
France currently represents Fastned’s fourth-largest market, accounting for approximately €12.7 million in charging revenue last year, a position bolstered by the long-standing leadership of Pierre Courgeon. However, Courgeon is moving into a strategic advisory role, concentrating on operational strengthening and continued French Business development. Sarah Wodehouse, previously Head of Business Transformation at BlaBlaCar – where she spent over seven years – will succeed him, tasked with evolving the French operation from a nascent market presence to a truly established contributor.

Switzerland prioritizes urban connectivity – zingg-graf drives expansion
In Switzerland, Fastned’s network – currently comprised of 14 charging parks – is poised for significant expansion, fueled by concessions along motorway routes and strategic locations within and near urban centers. Christine Zingg-Graf, bringing experience from SBB, will lead this initiative. She emphasizes a deliberate, disciplined scaling approach, recognizing that the future of EV travel in this region hinges not only on highway access but also on seamless connectivity within cities and agglomerations. “We’re not simply building out a highway system,” Zingg-Graf stated; “we’re building arteries for the entire country.”

Denmark bets on targeted growth – søndergaard leads multi-track strategy
Meanwhile, Fastned’s Danish operations, already established with three existing charging parks and plans for nine additional sites, are being guided by Jesper Krüger Søndergaard, formerly of Norbro Energi. His strategy involves a carefully orchestrated combination of targeted tenders, privately acquired locations, and strategic partnerships – a deliberate move to solidify Fastned’s presence and capitalize on Denmark’s burgeoning EV market. The ambition is to transform the country into a cornerstone of European EV adoption.
A measured expansion – numbers tell the story
The company’s trajectory – 60 charging parks in France, 14 in Switzerland, and three operational in Denmark – reflects a pragmatic approach to market penetration. Fastned’s commitment to sustainable growth, demonstrated through strategic partnerships and a focus on key urban and transport hubs, suggests a long-term vision for dominating the European charging landscape. Ultimately, the company’s success will depend on executing on these carefully considered expansions – a process, according to Zingg-Graf, “about scaling with discipline.”
