Fastned expands european charging network with key leadership changes

Fastned, a rapidly growing European electric vehicle charging network, is aggressively expanding its footprint across France, Switzerland, and Denmark, bolstered by strategic leadership appointments and a renewed focus on localized growth.

France sees country director transition, new strategic lead

France remains Fastned’s largest market, accounting for roughly €12.7 million in charging revenue last year, despite the shift of long-standing Country Director Pierre Courgeon to a newly defined strategic role. Courgeon will now concentrate on operational leadership and supporting continued development within the French market. Sarah Wodehouse, previously at BlaBlaCar where she spearheaded Business transformation initiatives, will inherit the reins, tasked with navigating the transition from initial market entry to sustained, market-defining expansion. Wodehouse recognizes the evolving landscape, acknowledging that ‘urban centres and agglomerations are becoming just as critical as the highway network’ – a deliberate shift away from solely motorway-centric growth.

Meanwhile, Fastned is solidifying its presence in Switzerland, where 14 charging parks are now operational, thanks to a concession package from Astra. Country Manager Christine Zingg-Graf, bringing experience from SBB, will drive this expansion, targeting key locations along the motorway and in major transport hubs. “Switzerland sits at the heart of European EV travel,” Zingg-Graf stated, “and our ambition is to make driving within the country, whether for Business, commuting or holidays, feel effortless.” She’s prioritizing disciplined scaling, emphasizing strong local partnerships and transparent, sustainable practices.

In Denmark, Jesper Krüger Søndergaard will lead the charge, leveraging over twelve years of experience at Norbro Energi. Søndergaard will pursue a multi-track strategy, combining targeted tenders with strategically acquired sites and partnerships to rapidly increase Fastned’s market share. This multifaceted approach underscores Fastned’s commitment to significant and sustained growth in the Danish market. The company’s long-term vision is to establish a robust infrastructure capable of supporting the nation’s burgeoning EV adoption rates, targeting both urban and rural areas with equal prioritization.

The coordinated expansion demonstrates Fastned’s ambition to become a dominant player in the European EV charging ecosystem, a position firmly rooted in strategic foresight and a commitment to operational excellence.
