Nz post faces backlash over planned raureka branch closure
New Zealand Post is facing a backlash over its decision to close the Raureka branch, which has been a vital service for the local community.

Residents rally against closure of raureka post centre
Residents of Masonic Village and surrounding areas have launched a petition to save the post centre, which serves around 60 customers daily. The petition quickly gained support across the city, highlighting the accessibility and convenience of the Raureka location.
Pharmacy owner Andrew Spence, who shares the building with the post centre, expressed concerns that the loss of postal services could have a broader impact on local businesses. He argued that NZ Post had not fully considered the branch's recent growth in foot traffic.
Judy Taylor, a monthly postal user, fears the closure would exacerbate the challenges of rising fuel prices and winter weather conditions for residents and rural customers who rely on the service.
Hastings councillor Heather Te Au-Skipworth is advocating for the community, citing potential economic and social implications of losing the post centre and pharmacy. She plans to raise the issue with the council and local businesses.
