Turkish defense industry aims for global top 10 spot by 2028

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced the country's ambitious goal to become one of the world's top 10 defense exporters by 2028, with a target of $11 billion in defense and aerospace exports.

Speaking at the opening of Roketsan's new facilities in Ankara, Erdogan emphasized the need for the Turkish defense industry to produce high-tech products more quickly, effectively, and in greater quantities.

This move would catapult Turkey into the global top 10 of defense exporters, according to Erdogan's vision. The nation aims to reach this milestone by expanding its production capacity, particularly in air defense systems and missile projects.

The upgraded infrastructure established for these projects will further enhance the deterrent power of the Turkish Armed Forces, Erdogan assured. This is part of Turkey's integrated layered air defense architecture, known as the Steel Dome, which brings together domestically developed radar, missile, electronic warfare, and command systems to protect Turkish airspace from threats at multiple altitudes and ranges.
