Suspect Shot By Police After Vehicle Strike During Detroit-Area Break-In Investigation
Ecorse, MI – A suspect accused of involvement in dozens of vehicle break-ins across Metro Detroit was shot by a police officer Wednesday morning After allegedly striking a task force officer with his vehicle during an attempted arrest in Ecorse. The suspect sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and is hospitalized, following a pursuit that concluded in a Detroit alley.

An officer who was struck by the suspect's vehicle was also hospitalized and is receiving treatment for injuries. The incident began around 5:45 a.m. on Southfield Road in Ecorse, where the Southeast Michigan Auto Crimes Consortium attempted to arrest the occupants of a vehicle suspected of breaking into numerous vehicles across Metro Detroit.
According to investigators, the driver accelerated and struck an officer as officers approached. A Dearborn police officer, assigned to the task force, then discharged his weapon, hitting the driver. Despite his injury, the suspect fled, leading to a pursuit that ended in Detroit, where he was apprehended.
