Mother of eight killed in head-on crash linked to hooning event

A selfless Victorian mother of eight has been remembered as 'the light of many' after being killed in a devastating head-on collision linked to a hooning event.

Roza abebwa, 51, died in the easter weekend crash.

The Ford Focus hatchback she was traveling in collided with a ute that had allegedly been driving at high speed and crossed onto the wrong side of the road to overtake other vehicles on School Road in Logan Reserve, Queensland, at around 9pm on Saturday.

Abebwa's two-year-old daughter and 28-year-old niece, who was driving the car, survived with injuries but are on the road to recovery.

Rashidi Edward, Abebwa's son, described his mother as 'the kind of person who made you feel safe, seen and cared for.' He recalled her as 'always making jokes, always finding a way to make people laugh even in the hardest moments.'

'She wasn't just our mum, she was everyone's mum. we loved her more than words can ever truly express,' Edward said, revealing that life would never be the same without his mother, who he described as the family's 'foundation, strength and home.'
