Jay Camp, whose home is currently powered by a generator running for over 24 hours, echoed the sentiment, stating he initially believed a tornado had struck. “It felt like something out of a movie,” he said, describing the power surge and the immediate need to protect his family. He expressed shock at the scale of the destruction, questioning how such a violent wind could be possible.
Logistical nightmares and a slow response
National Weather Service teams are assessing the full extent of the damage, while ATT crews, utilizing cherry pickers, work to repair downed power lines. But progress is hampered by the sheer size of some of the fallen trees – many too large to be processed by conventional wood chippers, requiring manual removal.

The situation underscores a growing awareness of the vulnerability of the area to extreme weather.
