Residents of the Village of Holly, Michigan, are facing a mandatory boil water advisory after a significant water main break occurred Saturday afternoon on Quick Road, west of North Holly Road. Emergency crews are currently on scene attempting to repair the ruptured pipe.

Localized Disruption and Limited Water Pressure

The incident, reported shortly after 3:00 PM, has resulted in immediate water service interruptions for residents closest to the break. Officials anticipate that those living in proximity to Quick Road will experience a complete lack of water until repairs are finalized. Furthermore, residents further afield may be subjected to significantly reduced water pressure as the system struggles to compensate for the loss.

Village officials confirmed at 4:45 PM that they are implementing a phased shutdown of water service north of Quick Road, estimating the disruption will last for several hours. This proactive measure, while inconvenient, is intended to facilitate the necessary repairs and prevent further damage to the aging infrastructure.

In the interim, the Holly Department of Public Works is urging all customers to boil tap water vigorously for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, or any other purpose. This includes ice preparation, dishwashing, and providing water for pets. While unboiled water can still be utilized for non-potable activities such as bathing and laundry, officials strongly advise against swallowing it during showering or bathing.
