La firefighters tackle blaze in dilapidated east hollywood building

Los Angeles firefighters faced a challenging blaze at an abandoned East Hollywood building early Sunday morning.

Four-story structure previously suffered fire damage, posed hazardous conditions

The fire was reported just after 3:17am at 315 North Vermont Avenue in the heart of East Hollywood. Crews with the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) battled a blaze in a four-story building that, despite being vacant, still posed significant risks due to previous fire damage and disrepair.

“We have to worry about the fire spread, we have to worry about the damage that has been there previously,” said LAFD Captain Brad Silverman. “It's not being maintained properly, so there could be just dilapidated conditions due to the deterioration of the building itself.”

Firefighters utilized ladder pipes and master stream operations to swiftly extinguish the flames in just over an hour, a testament to their expertise and training. Miraculously, no injuries were reported, and the blaze did not spread to adjacent buildings.
