Poland's galaxy informatyczne scores 54-qubit quantum computer from iqm

Galaxy Informatyczne, a Polish IT services provider, has secured a significant deal with IQM Quantum Computers for the on-site delivery of a 54-qubit Radiance system. Scheduled for installation at Galaxy's Zielona Góra data center in Q4 2026, the superconducting quantum computer will be integrated with the company's existing High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure.

The acquisition marks a rare instance of direct hardware procurement by a private IT firm, following IQM's previous deployments at public research hubs like LRZ in Germany and CINECA in Italy. Galaxy aims to leverage the on-premises system to support internal R&D and secure data processing, reducing its reliance on external cloud-based quantum services.

The 54-qubit system has identified several target application areas, including space technologies, financial market modeling, and energy grid optimization. By integrating quantum resources into their HPC stack, Galaxy aims to facilitate the development of hybrid algorithms for these industries.

This deployment aligns with IQM's established roadmap for its Radiance line, which utilizes a superconducting transmon architecture with tunable couplers. To date, IQM has sold 21 quantum systems to 13 customers worldwide, primarily within the academic and national laboratory sectors. The Zielona Góra installation will add to Poland's growing technical infrastructure, capitalizing on the region's existing expertise in mathematics and physics.
