Lauren book's 'raising our voices' tour educates on sexual abuse

Former Florida State Sen. Lauren Book is on a mission to raise awareness about sexual abuse with her 11th annual walk across the state. 'This is all about awareness,' Book told CBS News Miami. 'We want people sharing their stories. This is the Raising Our Voices Tour, and we're going to have a special recording studio with us so people can share their stories.'

Book's journey is personal

Book founded Lauren's Kids after surviving childhood sexual abuse herself. 'There are elements and forces out there every single day that seek to silence the voices of survivors,' she said. 'And we want to stop that from happening.' This year's walk comes as new information from the Epstein files prompts more survivors to come forward.

Book's tour aims to amplify those voices. 'We want those voices to be elevated, because in doing so, we know people will pay attention to this issue,' she said. 'We don't want survivors to feel invisible. We want them to be heard. We want them to be seen.'
