Braves, angels escalate into brawl as lopez, soler ejected

In a dramatic turn of events, a heated confrontation between Atlanta Braves pitcher Reynaldo López and Los Angeles Angels designated hitter Jorge Soler escalated into a full-blown brawl at Truist Park on Tuesday night.

Tempers flare as soler charges mound after high inside pitch

Soler, still fuming over being hit by a pitch in his previous at-bat, charged the mound after López fired a high inside fastball in the bottom of the fifth inning. The two players quickly engaged, throwing punches as their benches emptied in support.

Atlanta manager Walt Weiss was among those who tackled Soler, while López landed a punch on the Angel's batting helmet while holding the baseball. The altercation occurred with the Braves leading 4-2, but the Angels would ultimately take the game 6-2.

López pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out seven. Soler finished with a home run and two RBIs.
