Clippers' leonard leads comeback victory over mavericks

Los Angeles clippers' star forward Kawhi Leonard delivered a dominant performance, scoring 34 points and hitting six 3-pointers as the clippers bounced back from a 23-point deficit to defeat the Dallas Mavericks 116-103.

Leonard's impressive outing marks his 55th consecutive game with 20 or more points, a streak that continues to build his case for postseason awards like league MVP and All-NBA honors. He played his 62nd game of the season, leaving him with just three more to reach the 65-game threshold required for postseason eligibility.

Leonard's teammates also contributed to the clippers' victory. Darius Garland added 22 points, while Derrick Jones Jr. posted 11 points and 10 rebounds. Brook Lopez chipped in with 11 rebounds of his own. Cooper Flagg, the Mavericks' rookie phenom, had a solid game with 25 points and nine rebounds, but it wasn't enough to lift his team to the win.

The Mavericks' Max Christie was a perfect 10 for 10 from the free-throw line, while AJ Johnson was the only Mav to miss a free throw with his lone miss coming late in the game. Marvin Bagley III came off the bench to score 21 points and grab nine rebounds for Dallas.

The clippers dominated the early going, opening the game with a 17-point run and extending their lead to 23 points on Brook Lopez's 3-pointer in the second quarter. However, the Mavericks responded with a 21-8 spurt to tie the game at 47-47 in the third quarter. The two teams traded leads before the Clippers regained control, with Leonard scoring seven of their final 11 points to send them into the fourth quarter up 89-84.

In the final period, the Clippers pulled away with a 27-19 scoring advantage to seal the 13-point victory. The win marks the Clippers' first triumph in three meetings with the Mavericks this season.
