The Michigan State Police are investigating an incident that occurred around 4:55 p.m. on eastbound I-96, west of the Southfield Freeway. The man, who has not yet been identified, contacted emergency services reporting a gunshot had struck his vehicle. He directed troopers to the hospital, detailing that a black sedan had pulled alongside him and an individual fired a shot before speeding away.

First Lieutenant Mike Shaw of the Michigan State Police stated that investigators utilized license plate reader data and other investigative tools to identify the suspect vehicle. This allowed them to execute a search warrant at a Detroit residence, resulting in the discovery of several suspects and the vehicle in question.

The severity of the man's injuries remains undisclosed. However, the swift action by law enforcement suggests a high priority was placed on apprehending those responsible. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the case progresses. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the volatile nature of interstate travel.
