East ridge girls basketball searches for new coach after ellis-milan's departure

East Ridge High School's girls basketball team will enter a new era after varsity coach Ashley Ellis-Milan announced her resignation in late March. Ellis-Milan, a former Minnesota Gophers standout, led the Raptors to their first state tournament appearance in program history this season.

Ellis-milan leaves east ridge in strong position

In her final season, Ellis-Milan guided the Raptors to a 23-7 record, including a 16-2 mark in the Suburban East Conference. The team boasted All-Minnesota selection and Oklahoma signee Vienna Murray, who averaged 22 points per game.

Despite starting the season 0-2, East Ridge won 19 of its next 20 regular-season games, culminating in a 10-game winning streak in December. The team earned Strib Varsity Taco Bell team of the week honors on February 12.

Ellis-Milan, a two-time All-Big Ten selection and Gophers team captain from 2005 to 2010, expressed gratitude for her time at East Ridge.
