A 19-year-old man sustained non-life-threatening injuries after a vehicle, a white sport utility vehicle, veered off Ashland Avenue and slammed into a Chicago Transit Authority bus shelter on West Belmont Avenue Sunday night. The incident, which occurred at the notoriously complex six-way intersection of Belmont, Ashland, and Lincoln, underscores the persistent challenges of navigating Chicago’s sprawling roadways.

Police responded to the scene at approximately 10:38 p.m. following reports of a two-vehicle collision. Initial investigations revealed the SUV, traveling south on Ashland, made a right turn onto Belmont Avenue and subsequently sideswiped another vehicle heading west. The driver then lost control, striking the CTA shelter – a fixture outside Garfield’s Beverage – with considerable force.
